The team at Certa doing what they do best — painting! Certa is joining other local businesses to bring joy in May by painting windows on downtown businesses. Local children will be paired with businesses to help on May 13, 14 and 15th.
During the week of May 17 through May 23, the community will be invited to walk the painted window path for a fun scavenger hunt and visit stores for special promotions.

FirstService is pleased to present an opportunity to help kids in need this holiday season. Due to COVID, the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Clubs isn’t accepting gift donations for its Holiday Hamper program at this time, but is requesting monetary donations instead. We’ve set a collective goal to raise $1,000, which will brighten the holidays for four deserving kids.
There are two ways we will raise money: Individual fundraising efforts and a Team Jeopardy Trivia Challenge.
Individual Fundraising Efforts
If you are interested in making a monetary donation, please visit https://www.believeinkids.ca/get-involved/2020-holiday-hamper and add “FSV” to the message section. Donors and amounts are anonymous, but by including FSV, Kiwanis will be able to provide us with an accounting of what we donated so we will know if our goal has been met. Please feel free to share this link on your social networks and with family and friends who might be looking for a great cause to support.
We are also planning a fun teambuilding activity to help raise money.
Team Jeopardy Trivia Challenge
On Friday, November 27 at 12:30 pm, FirstService department teams will compete in an online Jeopardy-style competition via Zoom to correctly answer trivia questions. Each team will have one minute to answer their question. FSV will provide a monetary match for correctly answered questions!
For Kali Freeland, supporting Autism awareness is personal. Kali’s cousin, Mandy Conner, founded Northeast Florida Advocates for Autism and Related Disabilities. Mandy started her organization to raise awareness and funds for families in NE Florida with Autism and Related Disabilities. Mandy’s daughter Katelyn loves riding in golf carts, which inspired Mandy’s idea to organize a Golf Cart Poker Run for Autism.
Saturday, September 26th was the 7th Annual Katelyn’s Golf Cart Poker Run for Autism. Participating golf carts visit 5 stops around the Pirates Woods area of Fernandina. Police blocked the streets for 173 participating golf carts this year! At each stop, participants would draw one poker card and compete for the best hand. All cards / scoresheets were safely collected, and the winner was announced at the end of the day.
The event raised $35,000 this great cause!
“I am always proud to volunteer at this event with my family,” said Kali. “This year, I was proud to include Paul Davis slap bracelets in the event bags and represent our brand at this wonderful event!”
Join us for Century Fire Protection’s Annual Charity Clay Shoot benefiting Diapers to Diplomas.
Century Fire’s Charity Clay Shoot is an opportunity to get outdoors, have a good time, and network with industry peers while supporting a GREAT cause. We are partnering with Graystone Church to fund ministries that support orphans and foster families in Georgia and around the world.
All proceeds from this event are donated to Diapers to Diplomas. Over the last two years, we’ve raised over $250,000 for the cause. Our donors and sponsors make it possible for us to host a premium event that directly impacts the lives of orphans and foster children. Back in the spring, West Palm Beach GM Anette Jordan was invited to a fundraiser for a new school in their county of Port Saint Lucie that would be dedicated to children with Autism and related disabilities. Now, the Exceptional Academy for Differently-Abled Learners Inc is a private, non-profit learning center offering a full-time academic educational program for grades 1-6, as well as part-time homeschool enrichment classes for grades K-6.
The school is different than others because of its focus on children’s abilities, instead disabilities. With input from each student’s family, the school’s team of experts tailor a curriculum based on what a child is interested in and the things that he/she is currently successful at. With confidence, grows skills; the teachers work with the children, and their families, to help build their current skills and attain new ones.
This summer, the West Palm Beach team closed one of their older showrooms and opened a brand new one with all new displays. Knowing the school’s needs, Anette rallied her team. They reconfigured several of the displays from their old showroom and installed them at the school – a wonderful and equally “green” effort that also spared the team from discarding all the displays in landfills!
Once again, Paul Davis is partnering with WOKV for the Care-A-Thon held at Nemours Children’s Specialty Care in Jacksonville. All proceeds go to benefit the Child Cancer Fund.
This year, due to the pandemic, the Child Cancer Fund Careathon 2020 will be reformatted. It’s going to be a week-long campaign across Cox Media Group’s 8 radio stations.
A small remote phone bank will be operating to kick off the event, Monday 7/13 only, for half a day. This will be operated primarily by the CCF Board of Directors and staff. Paul Davis will have 3 volunteers accepting phone calls from 7am to noon Eastern.
The BIGGEST Need is virtual help! We hope you will tune in and share posts with your networks throughout the week on email and social media.
In addition to the phone bank Monday morning (5am to noon), there will be an online auction running from July 13th to 18th (ending at noon) at www.careathon20.givesmart.com. A preview of the online auction items will start July 10 at 5:00pm.
The Child Cancer Fund has not been able to hold a fundraising event yet in 2020 — let’s work together to make this one a huge success.
