I had the opportunity to participate in a volunteer trip to Costa Rica, where I worked alongside others to help build a community center designed to serve local families and children. This trip was especially meaningful to me because it marked my **fourth international volunteer trip**, continuing my commitment to giving back to communities in need. On my previous trips, I helped **build homes for families in need**, providing them with safe and stable places to call home.

In Costa Rica, our work involved hands-on construction and teamwork to help create a safe and welcoming community center that will continue to serve local residents long after our trip. The center will provide a space for community events, educational programs, and training opportunities for children and families. It will also support **mental health initiatives**, providing a dedicated place where community members can access resources, participate in programs, connect with others, and receive support.

Each of my international volunteer experiences has reinforced the importance of service, teamwork, and giving back. Whether helping build a home for a family or creating a community center that can positively impact generations of residents, these experiences have allowed me to contribute to something bigger than myself. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve communities abroad for the fourth time and to play a small part in creating lasting, positive change.

While picking up supplies for an event, I noticed an elderly gentleman and his service dog at the check-out who was short a few dollars after realizing he had left his bank and credit card at home. Embarrassed, he asked the cashier to set his purchases aside while he went to get more cash.

I stepped in, paid for his purchases.

As tears filled his eyes, he looked at me and said:

“Thank you for reminding me that there are still kind people in the world.”

As we spoke, his dog came over and gave me a big soggy kiss, making an already specila moment even more memorable.

What seemed like a small gesture became a powerful reminder that kindness can make a bigger difference than we realize.

Sometimes the greatest impact comes from simply showing up for someone when they need it most.

When volunteers came together to support the search for Parker Wells, the First Onsite Calgary team wanted to find a meaningful way to help.

By providing water to those spending long hours outdoors, the team helped volunteers stay hydrated and supported their efforts.

While it a kind gesture, it reflected the care and compassion being shown across the community during a difficult time.

As one volunteer shared:
“The support from First Onsite meant more than just water. It reminded us that we are not alone and that our community was standing beside us every step of the way.”

As students across Tarrant County, TX prepare for a new school year, our HR Business Partner team had the opportunity to support their success through a meaningful community service activity with United Way of Tarrant County.

As part of United Way’s backpack drive, our team created encouraging cards for students to receive on their first day of school. Each card included a simple but important message: have a great school year, believe in yourself, and read, read, read!

What made this activity especially meaningful is that the encouragement will extend beyond the students receiving backpacks filled with school supplies. The cards will be shared with every student in the participating classrooms, ensuring that each child begins the school year with a personal message of support and encouragement.

While a handwritten card may seem like a small gesture, the message behind it is much bigger. A few thoughtful words can help a student feel seen, supported, and excited about the possibilities ahead. By reinforcing the importance of reading, we also hoped to encourage a habit that can open doors to learning, imagination, and future opportunity.

For our HRBP team, the experience was a reminder that serving our communities does not always require a grand gesture. Sometimes impact begins with taking the time to let someone know, “We believe in you, and we are cheering you on.”

We are proud to partner with United Way of Tarrant County and to play a small part in helping local students start their school year with both the supplies, and the encouragement they need to thrive.

Several members of our Baltimore team, along with my husband and son, recently spent a few hours volunteering at the Maryland SPCA, located just minutes from our California Closets showroom.

We had the chance to learn more about the incredible work the organization does while helping with morning walks, treats, and plenty of love for the dogs currently in their care. From energetic pups eager to explore to those simply looking for some extra attention, it was a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

The morning was filled with tail wags, happy faces, and lots of teamwork. It was also a great opportunity to step away from our day-to-day routines, spend time together, and give back to an organization that makes such a positive impact in our community.

By the end of the visit, we were already talking about our next volunteer opportunity. We’re grateful to the Maryland SPCA for welcoming us and for all they do to help animals find safe, loving homes.

A few months ago, one of our previous designers, Esther, brought me a vision to support Oxford House (https://www.oxfordhouse.org/) in Falls Church, VA. For those unfamiliar, Oxford House provides supportive housing for individuals working to rebuild their lives in recovery. What started as an idea quickly turned into an incredible opportunity for our team to make a meaningful impact.
As part of his Eagle Scout project, Esther’s son, Tristan, took on a leadership role and helped coordinate the effort from concept through completion. Together, we donated and installed a California Closets Pantry system that will provide much-needed organization and storage for the residents.
This project was truly a team effort. A special thank you to Lewis, Randy, Steiny, Teresa, Cristen, and Tristan, along with his fellow volunteers, for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork throughout the project. Thank you as well to Shayne for helping us get everything set with the JSS so we could move forward with the installation.
In addition to the pantry system itself, many of you generously donated pantry goods to help stock the shelves. Your contributions added an extra layer of support and care that will be felt immediately by the residents. Thank you to everyone who participated.
One of the best parts of the day was seeing the transformation firsthand. We were able to capture some fantastic before, during, and after photos, and the finished space looks incredible. More importantly, it will serve a meaningful purpose for the people who call Oxford House home.
Projects like this remind us that our impact extends well beyond the work we do every day. They showcase the generosity, compassion, and community spirit that make our team so special.

The California Closets Pittsburgh team recently supported the “Bowling with Boom Boom” event, a fundraiser benefiting Clothed in Strength, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting low-to-moderate income single mothers as they work toward financial stability and independence. The July event raised $10,000 through donations and participation fees.

Hosted by the Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini Foundation, the event brought together local businesses, families, and community members for an evening of friendly competition, food, raffles, and fundraising. The California Closets Pittsburgh team was proud to participate and support a cause that aligns with our commitment to strengthening communities and helping individuals feel welcome and included.

Clothed in Strength provides resources, encouragement, and practical support to women and families navigating financial hardships. Through events like Bowling with Boom Boom, vital funds and donations are raised to help bridge the gap between government assistance and long-term financial independence.

The teams support reflects the California Closets spirit of giving back and making a positive impact beyond the workplace.

Giving back takes many forms, and this summer California Closets was proud to support Cleveland GiveCamp, an annual community event that connects technology professionals with local nonprofit organizations in need of digital and technology support.

Held over the course of a weekend, GiveCamp brings together technical, creative, and organizational professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to build websites, custom applications, databases, and branding solutions at no cost for nonprofits. In 2026, more than 150 volunteers partnered with 14 local organizations to help strengthen their ability to serve their communities.

Representing California Closets, Megan McKinley volunteered her weekend as a Project Manager for the Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being and development of children and families. Working alongside other skilled volunteers, Megan helped guide the successful delivery of an updated website that will better support the organization’s mission and outreach efforts.

By contributing her time, leadership, and project management expertise, Megan helped provide a valuable resource to a nonprofit that can now connect more effectively with the families and communities it serves.

In July 2025 Dynamic National partnered with GAF to provide the labor and materials to install an Oyster Grey Timberline HDZ shingle roof in St. Petersburg, FL.

The 2,000 sq ft 3/2.5 house will become home for Cassandra Rivera and her 4 kids.

Dynamic National is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity, GAF and Cassandra to help provide her family the home she always dreamt of having. A place to raise and nurture her kids as they benefit and impact our local community.

i am part of a men’s group that holds weekend retreats and i assist by volunteering my time to help with setup and hospitality as well as share my testimony to help others become better fathers, husbands, sons, and people in general. It means a lot to me as i did my retreat almost 16 years ago and it was very impactful and i like to give to others what i received.

My church has food pantry that feeds approximately 350 families a month! We are part of the Food Bank of North Carolina and most of our volunteers are over the age of 70. We have 80-year-olds that physically pick up over 2,000 lbs. of food per week! Our wonderful volunteers serve the community two days a week and last year provided 264,060 lbs. of food to 4,296 families! I volunteer by doing all the necessary paperwork and records but it’s a small part compared to the hard work our other volunteers do every week! It is a blessing to help with our food pantry!

It is always special when we have the opportunity to come together as a team and give back to the communities around us. This year’s Back-to-School Drive, hosted by Alyson’s Allstars, her regional director’s teams and our fellow FirstService Residential team members, was a wonderful example of what we can accomplish when we all come together for a good cause, knowing that something as simple as donating a notebook, backpack, pencils, or other school supplies can make a difference in a child’s life. These items may seem small, but to a family in need, they can mean one less thing to worry about and one more reason for a child to feel excited and prepared for the school year.

Thanks to the generosity of our team members, residents, vendors, and everyone who participated, we were able to collect more than 400 back-to-school items for Start off Smart (SOS) Homestead!

SOS Homestead is a nonprofit organization that supports children and families in South Miami-Dade by providing essential resources such as food assistance, educational support, youth programs, and other services to families who may be facing challenging circumstances. Their mission is centered around helping children and families have the opportunity to build brighter, healthier futures.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, encouraged others to participate, and helped make this drive such a success. Service is more than what we do for the communities we manage—it is also about the people and families who make those communities special.

This summer, members of the First Onsite Global HRIS team stepped away from our usual day-to-day work and spent time giving back at a local Humane Society.

Our team rolled up our sleeves to help wherever we were needed—from walking dogs and giving them some much appreciated exercise and attention to cleaning and organizing spaces around the facility. While these may seem like simple tasks, each one helps the Humane Society team devote more time and resources to caring for the animals who depend on them.

Of course, spending time with the dogs was a highlight! Beyond lending a helping hand, the experience gave our team an opportunity to connect with one another outside of work while supporting an organization that makes a meaningful difference in our community every day.

Our Summer of Service experience was a great reminder that making an impact doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes it’s a few hours of your time, a willingness to pitch in, and maybe a dog walk or two.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our local Humane Society and proud to be part of a FirstService community that encourages us to give back.

One team, a few helping hands, and plenty of paws — a summer day well spent!

During a local walk, I had the opportunity to support two young community members who were raising funds for the Upper Credit Humane Society through a lemonade and brownie stand. I made a donation to their fundraiser and was inspired by their commitment to helping animals and giving back to the community. Their initiative was a great reminder that acts of service can happen at any age and that every contribution helps make a difference.

This summer, severe weather placed exceptional pressure on teams in Western Canada. In response, three Atlantic employees demonstrated the kind of leadership that defines First Onsite — stepping forward not because they were asked, but because they understood the impact their support could have on colleagues and customers.

While continuing to manage their own responsibilities, Lindsay McMullen, Margaret Weir, and Valerie PoKoo volunteered to provide critical coverage during a period of unusually high demand. Their willingness to assist teams across the country ensured continuity of service, reduced strain on impacted colleagues, and helped maintain the level of care customers expect from us.

Their actions reflect the core values that guide First Onsite:

• Teamwork — They strengthened our national network by supporting colleagues far beyond their own region.

• Compassion — They recognized the pressure others were facing and chose to help carry that weight.

• Service Excellence — They ensured customers continued to receive timely, dependable support during a challenging period.

• People First — They prioritized the needs of teammates and customers, demonstrating the culture we strive to build every day.

Their contribution was not simply operational — it was cultural. It reinforced what it means to be First Onsite: a team that shows up for one another, adapts when challenges arise, and leads through action, not title.

Lindsay, Margaret, and Valerie exemplified the leadership behaviors we value most: accountability, collaboration, and a commitment to doing what’s right. Their efforts helped ensure Canadians received the support they needed, and they strengthened the bonds that make our organization resilient.

On August 3, our team participated in a special Great Summer Step Off Challenge in support of the First Onsite Light The Night Team and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). For every registered participant who logged at least five steps, First Onsite donated $5 to the cause.

What seemed like a simple challenge became a meaningful opportunity to come together and make a difference. With 164 employees participating, we helped generate an $820 donation to support blood cancer research, patient support programs, and family resources.

This initiative was especially meaningful because of First Onsite’s ongoing support of our colleague and friend, Todd Yuen, whose leukemia diagnosis in 2023 has inspired many across our organization. Supporting Light The Night allowed us to contribute to a cause that directly impacts individuals and families facing similar journeys.

The experience was a reminder that creating positive change doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Something as simple as logging a few steps became part of a larger effort that brought our teams together and supported an important cause. Seeing so many colleagues participate demonstrated the generosity, compassion, and community spirit that make First Onsite such a special place to work.

The Great Summer Step Off Challenge showed that when we come together with a shared purpose, even our everyday actions can create a lasting impact. I’m proud to have been part of an initiative that supported our communities, honored Todd’s journey, and helped bring hope to those affected by blood cancers.

The DCMetro Social Committee hosted a School Supply Drive during the first three weeks of July to benefit Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS), a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to help local children and families succeed.

I posted the flyer for the drive at Altavista Condominiums and set out two VERY large boxes, hoping we could fill them.

Well… two boxes were definitely NOT enough! 🎒✏️📚

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our residents and staff, we collected enough school supplies to fill the entire back of my SUV! Backpacks, folders, pencils, glue sticks, index cards, composition books, notebooks, and SO MUCH MORE!

If I had to estimate, we collected at least 500 pounds of supplies—the equivalent of roughly 15 boxes once everything was sorted and repacked into more manageable sizes.

It was truly heartwarming to watch our community come together for such a meaningful cause. Seeing our staff and residents contribute so generously to help local children start the school year with the supplies they need was something special.

I couldn’t be prouder of the Altavista community. ❤️

Sometimes a simple request to “fill a box” turns into an SUV full of generosity. This is what community looks like. 🎒❤️✏️

As a Hospitality Volunteer during the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches in Toronto, I had the opportunity to welcome fans from around the world and help create a positive and memorable experience at the stadium. My responsibilities included assisting guests with directions, answering questions, providing event information, and ensuring visitors felt comfortable and supported throughout their time at the venue. Being part of such a globally recognized event allowed me to work with a diverse team, connect with people from different cultures, and contribute to the success of an unforgettable international sporting event.

This summer, the CalClosets Kansas City team donated both volunteer time and materials to support the 56th Farewell Symphony Designer Showhouse, a longstanding fundraiser benefiting the Kansas City Symphony. For more than five decades, the event has transformed a local home through the work of talented designers and tradespeople, attracting approximately 6,000 visitors each year. This was the Symphony’s final year for hosting this project.

The California Closets Designers were selected to participate, designing and installing the home’s mudroom, the first space visitors experienced on the tour. The team also enhanced the adjacent under-stair area with additional cubby storage, creating a functional and visually appealing space that showcased their expertise and craftsmanship.

Held from June 13 through July 5, the event is part of a fundraiser that has generated more than $5.5 million for the Kansas City Symphony over its 56-year history. Through their contribution, the Kansas City team helped support the final year of this beloved community tradition and celebrated the meaningful legacy and impact on arts programming in the region.

I recently was introduced to a young lady that donates and gives back to her community in Little Rock Arkansas. She calls it the “little free pantry” and her concept of giving back with small toiletries and non perishable foods made me want to help give back. I reached out to her back in June to let her know I would like to contribute every 2 weeks this summer and it meant a lot to me knowing I could help be apart of something small but thoughtful outside of my community. I didn’t have to be present but my contribution was very meaningful to others and I was glad this opportunity to donate was brought to me. I would hope this encourages others to give back to other communities as well.

I recently made another donation to the Little Free Pantry, and my heart feels even fuller knowing I was able to continue giving back. Being part of this has reminded me that kindness doesn’t have to be big to make a difference.

During my lunch break on Monday, a young woman was crossing into an intersection and I noticed her hazard lights were on.. her car stalled out right in front of me, right in the middle of the busy roadway. Me and another driver closed off each side of the road to help push her car across 6 lanes of traffic into a business parking spot. I let her sit in my car while she called her father to help her and gave her a drink to cool off. Luckily I was around the corner from work and made it back before my lunch break was over! 🙂 I try to do one good deed a week and that was a scary one lol

On July 21, 2026, FirstService Residential Associates partnered with Services for the Underserved to assemble housing kits for formerly homeless families and individuals in New York City. Together, we boxed and prepared hundreds of essential items to help furnish 70 new apartments on West 45th Street.It was a meaningful opportunity to give back to the community where we work and serve.

Supporting our local veterans Christmas in July event was especially meaningful to me because my dad is a Vietnam veteran. Seeing the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of those who have served reminds me of the countless men and women who have given so much for our country.

It was an honor for us to support an event that raises money to support veterans, recognizes their service, and ensures they know their sacrifices are appreciated and never forgotten.

Served as a Lasagna Love Chef – delivered home-cooked lasagna to a family in need.

Lasagna Love is a global grassroots movement powered by volunteers who believe in the simple act of kindness by cooking and delivering a homemade lasagna to neighbors in need. There is no judgment, only a desire to help. Every lasagna is prepared with care, and the ingredients are personally purchased and generously donated by the volunteer making your lasagna. 

As the Minnesota team prepared to celebrate the recent opening of its new Design Studio & Showroom, members saw an opportunity to make the occasion about more than just a new space. Inspired by gratitude for this exciting milestone, the team incorporated a “Summer of Service” community outreach event.
In the weeks leading up to the event, team members were encouraged to bring food or make a monetary donation to the ICA (Intercongregation Communities Association) Food Shelf, a valued community resource located near the new showroom. To ensure the greatest impact, the planning committee shared a list of the food shelf’s most-needed items in advance. By focusing on ICA’s current needs, the team was able to provide meaningful support to local families and individuals experiencing food insecurity.
The results were inspiring. Together, the Minnesota team donated approximately 245 pounds of food and $100 to the ICA Food Shelf. The ICA team was deeply appreciative of the contribution, and employees found the experience equally rewarding.
According to Elise Brewster, Marketing & Sales Support, at California Closets Minnesota, there was no greater feeling than being able to uplift and support the community.
A special thank you goes to Kelsey Blackburn, one of the Minnesota team’s talented designers, who helped bring the initiative to life. After connecting with an ICA representative through the local Chamber of Commerce, Kelsey took the lead in coordinating the donation drive and encouraging team participation.
While the contribution may seem modest, it reflects the values that guide California Closets teams every day—community, generosity, and a commitment to making a positive impact where they live and work. The Minnesota team turned a celebratory milestone into an opportunity to support its new neighbors and strengthen the community it is proud to call home.

At CalClosets New York, creativity isn’t limited to designing beautiful spaces, it also shows up in the ways the team supports the local community.
Recently, team members came together for a backpack decorating project, creating personalized backpacks for children and families in need. Using the same creativity and attention to detail they bring to their work every day, volunteers transformed 200 backpacks into colorful, one-of-a-kind gifts designed to make children feel special.
The backpacks, along with donated art supplies, will soon be making their way into the hands of local children. One hundred backpacks and supplies will be donated to a nonprofit children’s center in Ossining, while another 100 will be distributed to local families in need in Rockland County during the New York showroom opening.
The effort was about more than backpacks. Team members also personally donated crayons, markers, coloring books, drawing pads, and activity books to help encourage creativity and fun for the children who receive them.
A special thank-you goes to leaders Bob, Bob, and Rob for their generous donation of 200 backpacks and decorating supplies. Their support made the project possible and will help create meaningful moments for children and families across the community. And shoutout to NY’s marketing intern Azim for coordinating.

At each stop on this year’s Vertical Summit tour in the East Region, something special happened. Beyond the presentations, networking, and learning sessions, our associates came together for a shared purpose—to make life a little easier for someone going through an incredibly difficult time.

In South Carolina, donated purses were thoughtfully filled with everyday essentials for women seeking safety and a fresh start after escaping domestic abuse to the My Sisters House non-profit organization. In North Carolina, care packages were assembled for individuals and families experiencing a housing crisis to the Hospitality House non-profit organization. In New Jersey, hygiene kits were packed to help teens access basic necessities many of us take for granted for United Way non-profit organization. And in Virginia, we partnered with My Sweet Julia Grace foundation, to provide comfort kits for families unexpectedly staying in the hospital while caring for a sick child.

While each organization serves a different need, the heart behind every project was the same. Every donated item, every packed bag, and every care package was a reminder that someone cares. A toothbrush, a journal, a bottle of shampoo, or a simple hygiene item may seem small, but to someone facing uncertainty, hardship, or crisis, those everyday essentials can provide comfort, restore dignity, and offer hope during one of the most challenging moments of their lives.

Together, our associates transformed simple donations into meaningful acts of compassion. It’s a powerful reminder that giving back isn’t always about grand gestures—sometimes it’s the smallest acts of kindness that leave the greatest impact.

We recently had the opportunity to help a beautiful 3-year-old little girl by providing her with new clothes and some of the things she needed. We were also fortunate enough to do something extra special—give her a magical first trip to Disney World.

Watching her face light up as she met her favorite princess, Elsa, was a moment we will never forget. Hearing Elsa sing her favorite songs, taking photos together, and seeing the wonder in her eyes was absolutely priceless.

One of the sweetest moments was when she met Minnie and got to give her a little boop on the nose. Such a simple interaction, yet it filled her with so much joy and laughter.

Her smile, excitement, and pure innocence brought tears to our eyes. It reminded us that even the smallest gestures of kindness can leave a lasting impact.

We are so grateful we were able to be part of this special day and help create a little bit of magic that she will always remember. ✨💕

Supporting SOS Homestead’s food pantry was a meaningful experience because it reminded me how even small acts of kindness can make a real difference. Seeing our team and residents in our communities come together to donate food for families in need showed the power of compassion and generosity. It had a personal impact on me by reinforcing the importance of giving back and inspiring me to continue creating opportunities for our community to help those who need it most.

Yesterday, I had a team of 4 volunteers. Many of them were brand new to the Canadian Red Cross. We had 6 impacted clients and families reach out for support. Many of them we helped refer them to the correct agency or organization that can give them support. However, there was one couple who lived in a basement suite that needed assistance from a fire that damanged the entire home. I worked with a new volunteer to go step by step to learn how to take care of this couple. The volunteer was able to get the couple to an hotel with transporation & then get them visa cards for basic level of food and clothing money assistance. We now have 3 new volunteers that now have access to their Red Cross credentials and are gaining confidence assisting impacted individuals from disasters.

Sunday morning received a call from an individual that had a basement flooded. Found resources and agency referrals to support this individual and their family to be able to start to recover from this disaster.

The California Closets team in Southern New Jersey (NJ071) spent time last week volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, supporting a local resident. Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help people have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing. Its vision is “a world where everyone has a decent place to live.”

“This is the second year in a row that we’ve partnered with Habitat. Their vision aligns with our values and our deep commitment to making space for what belongs. Thank you to our team members who joined us for this community event,” said Marilyn Dolnick, General Manager.

Summer of Service is about making a positive impact and inspiring others through our actions—and sometimes that impact starts with something as simple as taking the first step.

As part of The First Onsite Great Summer Step-Off, a two-month wellness challenge designed to encourage healthy habits, connection, and friendly competition, team members across the organization are finding new ways to support their physical and mental well-being while motivating one another along the way.

During a special Daily Winner Challenge on July 11, Adam Furlotte led the way with an incredible 67,103 steps, earning the highest step count of the day.

Adam spent the day exploring Canadian trails, covering nearly 60 kilometres and taking in some of the country’s natural beauty.

“Canada has some amazing trails and amazing views,” Adam shared.

While the number of steps is impressive, the greater impact lies in the inspiration behind them. Adam’s participation serves as a reminder that every effort toward personal wellness can positively influence those around us. By challenging ourselves, sharing our experiences, and encouraging one another, we help create a culture where healthy choices, resilience, and connection thrive.

The First Onsite Great Summer Step-Off Challenge is more than a fitness challenge — it’s an opportunity to bring colleagues together, celebrate achievements, and build a stronger sense of community from coast to coast.

Assisted impacted individuals to get them into short-term accommodation, food, and clothing for two major events that occurred in Edmonton the week of July 13th. The events were a flash rain storm that flooded many basement suites and an apartment explosion that displaced numerous individuals & families that did not have insurance and/or of less means. I served two 48-hour shifts to support these activities.

As part of our commitment to creating a positive and connected workplace culture, the Atlantic Region Social Committee launched Jar Wars — a lighthearted weekly competition that transformed an everyday workplace conversation into an opportunity to bring people together.

What started as a fun battle between popular beverage brands quickly became something much more meaningful. Employees from across the region enthusiastically participated by casting votes, sharing opinions, and cheering on their favorite contenders. The excitement generated friendly conversations across teams and locations, creating connections that extended beyond day-to-day work responsibilities.

In today’s fast-paced environment, taking time to foster engagement and recognize employees can have a significant impact. Jar Wars provided a simple but effective way to bring moments of joy, laughter, and camaraderie into the workday. Employees who may not have otherwise interacted found common ground through friendly competition, helping strengthen relationships and reinforce a sense of belonging across the region.

To make the experience even more rewarding, participants were entered into weekly draws for a gift card prize. These small gestures of appreciation helped recognize employee engagement and added an element of excitement that encouraged participation from team members across multiple locations.

One of the greatest successes of Jar Wars was seeing how a simple initiative could unite employees around a shared experience. Regardless of which brand employees supported, everyone had an opportunity to participate, feel included, and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere.

This initiative serves as a reminder that acts of kindness are not always grand gestures. Sometimes, kindness means creating opportunities for others to feel connected, recognized, and appreciated. Through Jar Wars, the Atlantic Region Social Committee demonstrated how investing in employee well-being and engagement can create a ripple effect of positivity throughout the organization.

While Pepsi may have claimed the title of reigning Jar Wars champion, the real victory was the sense of community, connection, and appreciation that the initiative inspired among employees across the Atlantic Region.

In preparing for “back to school”, the California Closets (FL107) Florida Owned Operations team planned a timely event to stuff backpacks for underprivileged students from local schools. The team had fun doing the event together and built new connections with their community. “Belonging means ensuring every student feels supported and set up for success. By stuffing backpacks for these local students, we’re helping create a more inclusive community and giving children the tools they need to start the school year with confidence,” said Staci Russell, Regional General Manager, FL

Our California Closets team in Raleigh continually seeks out opportunities to give back to the communities where they live and work. In June, the team partnered with the local Make-a-Wish Foundation on a very special project. The team volunteered their time to design and donate an entire room for a young girl who is bedridden. The goal was to create a beautiful, inviting environment that not only reflected her personality but also made daily life easier for her and her family, providing custom storage for her medical equipment and other essential items. It was an incredibly rewarding project and we’re grateful to have been part of making her space more functional, comfortable and uplifting.

Proud Platinum Sponsor of the 2026 golf outing benefiting VOICES of Stephenson County, a nonprofit organization that supports survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The event raised more than $5,000 and collected enough essential kitchen supplies to fill an entire truck for the shelter.

Two weeks ago, I signed up to help volunteer to shop for young moms who didnt have cars to pick up baby supplies such as diapers, wipes and food through a volunteer program I am a apart of. The relief these moms felt seeing they were able to get the things they desperately needed was all the motivation I needed to do it again!

My volunteer service combines my personal interests in genealogy and the history of pandemics—particularly those of the late 1800s through the 1918 Influenza A pandemic—with opportunities to help others and preserve historical records.

Through my research, I became involved with the Find A Grave website and signed up as a volunteer to fulfill online photo requests for memorials. When individuals are unable to visit a cemetery because of distance, health, or other circumstances, I photograph requested gravesites and memorials and upload the images for families, historians, and researchers. These photographs help people connect with their family history, preserve the memory of loved ones, and support genealogical research.

In addition to this work, I review digitized historical documents, such as birth and death certificates, that are available online. When I discover errors or inaccuracies, I submit corrections for review to improve the quality and reliability of these public records. While these corrections may seem small, they help ensure that future researchers and families have access to more accurate historical information.

This volunteer work has been especially meaningful because it allows me to combine my passion for history with service to others. It also encourages me to spend time outdoors, providing fresh air and exercise while making a tangible difference for individuals seeking to learn more about their ancestors. Whether through photographing memorials or improving the accuracy of historical records, I enjoy contributing to the preservation of family history and helping others make meaningful connections to their past.

As part of our commitment to fostering connection and employee well-being, we hosted a Cutest Pet Contest that brought employees together in a fun and meaningful way.

Team members were invited to share photos and stories of their beloved pets. What began as a lighthearted contest quickly became an opportunity for colleagues to connect beyond their day-to-day responsibilities. Employees shared laughs, exchanged pet stories, and discovered common interests, creating new conversations and strengthening existing relationships.

The contest provided a welcome boost to morale and gave employees a chance to celebrate a part of their lives that brings them comfort, happiness, and companionship. In today’s fast-paced work environment, creating opportunities for connection and belonging is more important than ever, and the enthusiasm surrounding the contest demonstrated the positive impact these moments can have on our workplace culture.
The response was overwhelming, with so many outstanding entries that selecting a winner proved to be a difficult task. After much deliberation, Bruce, captured the hearts of everyone and was crowned our Cutest Pet Contest winner. Bruce’s photo showcased not only his personality but also the joy that pets bring to our lives.

While Bruce took home the title, the true winners were the employees who participated. The contest fostered engagement, encouraged teamwork, and reminded us that taking time to celebrate one another helps build a stronger, more connected workplace.

This initiative is a great example of how small acts that bring people together can create a meaningful impact. By encouraging connection, inclusivity, and a sense of community, the Cutest Pet Contest helped make our workplace a little brighter and reinforced the culture of caring that defines our team.

Our Franchise Ops Team teamed up with United Way Knoxville to pack 150 cold weather kits. These are bags packed with gloves, hats, socks, hand warmers, and basic essentials for the unhoused community through the city’s cold weather shelters.

We took our passion for efficiency to heart and packed the kits within 30 minutes, which allowed for more time spent creating handwritten cards for the individuals receiving the kits. We even personally designed a system onsite as you can see from this professional drawing on one of our cards

As a team, we had so much fun coming together, creating personal cards to bring others a moment of joy, and feeling accomplished in knowing we have had a hand in making a difference in someone’s day.

The team at United Way Knoxville were amazing hosts and made us feel right at home. They were so kind to share a bit of their history, culture, and the reason(s) why they do what they do every day.

Recently, I noticed that a neighbor had trapped a raccoon in what appeared to be an inhumane trap. After learning that the animal had been confined for approximately 14 hours without being released, I became concerned for its welfare.

Before taking further action, I made multiple attempts to reach the homeowner to have the raccoon released, but I was unable to contact them.

Animal Control and asked them to investigate the situation. They responded promptly, assessed the circumstances, and took the necessary action to ensure the raccoon was safely released.

I am grateful for the Animal Control officers who helped that animal and for the reminder that a simple phone call can make a difference. Every living creature deserves compassion, and sometimes, kindness means speaking up when something doesn’t seem right.

One small action helped give this raccoon a second chance at freedom.

First Onsite Canada proudly participated in Aviva Canada’s Fourth Annual Net Zero Supplier Summit, a meaningful event focused on sustainability, environmental stewardship, and collective action. The experience brought together industry partners with a shared goal: creating a greener, healthier future through hands-on environmental initiatives.

At Bruce’s Mill Conservation Park, we joined fellow participants in planting native trees and shrubs that will provide lasting benefits to the local ecosystem. More than simply planting trees, we were contributing to stronger biodiversity, healthier habitats for wildlife, improved air quality, and a more sustainable environment for future generations.

What made the day especially memorable was seeing so many organizations come together with a common purpose. Every tree planted represented a commitment to making a positive difference and demonstrated how collective efforts can create meaningful, long-term impact. The experience reinforced the idea that sustainability is not just a goal—it is a responsibility that grows stronger when we work together.

The event also provided an opportunity to connect with industry peers who share a commitment to environmental responsibility and community impact. Through collaboration, learning, and action, we gained a deeper appreciation for the role each of us can play in protecting and preserving the environment.

Participating in this tree-planting initiative was both rewarding and inspiring. It served as a reminder that even the smallest actions can grow into something significant over time. We were proud to contribute to an initiative that will leave a lasting legacy and support healthier, greener communities for years to come. 🌳🌱🍃

The Camel Herders Unit, mission is to care for Sir Gus. Under the leadership of their president, Steve Moody of Century Fire Protection, Orlando. We make sure Sir Gus is healthy, well-fed, brushed, exercised, and ready for his next adventure. We know that caring for Sir Gus is more than a responsibility—it’s an honor.

Gus even has his own specially designed transportation bus that safely transports him to Shrine events, festivals, across Central Florida. Children and adults stop to take pictures and give him carrots with Sir Gus’s “kiss” with the famous camel. Sir Gus helps raise awareness for children who need hope and healing. The Shriners and Sir Gus represent an organization built on compassion, service, and love.

Planned Companies volunteered at St.Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ for the second year in row.

Our group of 11 spent the day helping by taking the dogs out for walks. During these walks, volunteers observed how the dogs interacted with people, responded to different environments, and behaved overall. This information is valuable to the shelter staff, as it helps them update the dogs’ profiles and better match them with potential adopters.

Our team truly enjoyed spending time with the dogs and, of course, getting outside and enjoying the beautiful day. We’re already looking forward to going back next year and continuing our partnership with St. Hubert’s!

Ordered Papa John’s pizza for dinner tonight, June 24th, and supported the Jax Humane Society with my order of $33.89!

#DaylightHour is an annual opportunity to focus on energy conservation and workplace wellness. It’s always a fun event to coordinate because turning off the lights for an hour is a simple way to break up the day and bring everyone together!

What makes it even more rewarding is seeing our collective impact on energy savings, and this year we had record participation with 22 offices joining in. We made the occasion even sweeter with Kona Ice at our headquarters!

Every morning and afternoon, I take my dog for a walk around the neighborhood. Over time, I started noticing how much litter was being left behind. Since I already carry doggy bags with me, I began picking up trash whenever I see it and throwing it away. It’s a small act, but it helps keep our neighborhood clean

Today I donated business apparel to women in need, helping support their confidence and opportunities as they take steps towards new beginnings.

Today I bought a warm meal for someone experiencing homelessness. It was a small gesture, but wanted to brighten their day and make sure they felt seen and cared for. WE shared a brief conversation, and it reminded me how much kindness – even the simple moments can matter.

What began as a way to support a valued member of the First Onsite Canada family has grown into a meaningful initiative that brings our teams, clients and partners together. Through our ongoing partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, we are proud to have raised nearly $24,000 to support blood cancer research, patient programs, and families in need.

This effort is more than fundraising – it reflects who we are. By coming together to honor Todd’s journey, we are extending our commitment beyond our daily work and into our communities we serve.

As we continue into our second year, we remain focused on making a positive impact and supporting one another. This initiative is a power reminder of the difference we can make when we come together with purpose.

Some our Regional Leadership Team had the opportunity to spend the afternoon cooking meals for Ronald McDonald House Atlantic. We cooked 50 meals (spaghetti, kale salad and rolls) that will be shared with the Ronald McDonald House and The IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.

It was great to make an immediate impact to our community in a place that has benefited our clients, employees and business partners.

I love to give back in every way possible. About 2 weeks ago I was driving near collins hill walmart and saw a mother and young daughter carrying groceries and walking home in the rain. I stopped and asked them if they needed a ride, they were hesitant at first however I told them I did not mind at all.

I dropped them off at home about a 15 minute drive that I am sure would have took them longer. This made me feel like I was meant to do a good deed because you never know when someone truly needs help and most people are afraid to even ask. They thanked me and that made me feel complete, its the little and generous acts that matter.

I noticed that my neighbor’s Mango fruit tree was full and that much of the fruit would likely go to waste. I offered to help pick the fruit and gather it for them. The small act saved them the physical strain of doing it themselves, keep animals and bugs away from their house and allowed them to enjoy the mangos without the extra work. I even got a HUGE bag of Mangos as a thank you! There were so many, so I brought them to work and handed them out! I had a mango smoothie every single day for almost two weeks!

I noticed a young mother who was short on money to buy groceries AND diapers so I helped purchase the extra items she needed. My goal was to ease some of her stress and ensure she and her children had food on the table and diapers for her baby. It was a small act of kindness, but I know it made a meaningful difference during a difficult time. When I was a young mother and no help, a stranger did the same exact thing for me – Paying it forward actually made ME feel good. 🙂

I noticed an elderly woman struggling to take her trash to the curb. I offered to help and took care of it for her. It was a simple act, but it made her day a little easier and reminded me how small gestures of kindness can have a meaningful impact on others.

Having grown up in foster care myself, I understand how important support and encouragement can be. I make an effort to share my experiences, offer guidance, and encourage others facing difficult circumstances. By showing that challenges can be overcome, I hope to provide hope and inspiration to those who may need it.

I took the time to assist a coworker with a billing issue that was preventing a job from moving forward. By working together to resolve the problem quickly, we helped avoid delays and kept the customer satisfied!

I am a licensed wildlife rehabber for small mammals in the state of Texas. This allows me to rescue and care for raccoons (my favorite), squirrels, foxes, skunks, armadillos, and opossums. While I am a small in-home rehabber, I spend a lot of time with my mentor at Petri’s Place. This is one of the only animal sanctuaries in South Texas and she has already taken in nearly 1000 animals this year!

Volunteering at the sanctuary can mean cleaning cages, bottle/tube feeding babies, building/repairing enclosures, trapping/releasing animals that are ready to be returned to the wild, fundraising, and educating the public on conservation and rescue. It is exhausting and wonderful.

I spend at least one weekend a month at the sanctuary in addition to the animals that I rescue in my home. I love being able to save animals while helping people learn how to live alongside them safely.

Through our partnership and support of the CICMA’s annual event, our National Insurance Sales team helped contribute to something far bigger than ourselves – raising $30,000 for Campfire Circle. Seeing the impact come to life was a powerful reminder that when we come together as a community, we can create real change. It wasn’t just about the sponsorship – it was about bringing people together, giving back, and helping make a difference where it truly matters.

This Father’s Day, I took a moment to reach out personally to 48 clients and team members to wish them a happy Father’s Day. Each message was simple, but genuine. It wasn’t about the grand gesture – it was taking a moment to recognize the role they play not only professionally, but in their personal lives as fathers and mentors. The responses I received, were heartfelt. SOme expressed gratitude, others shared how the message meant to them. This experience reminded me how powerful a thoughtful connection can be. A few kind words can brighten someone’s day, strengthen relationships, and build a culture of appreciation.

In the fast-paced rhythm of daily operations, the First Onsite Mississauga team consistently goes above and beyond – quietly stepping in to support the National Sales team, often reshuffling there already busy schedules without hesitation.

Whether it is lending a hand behind the scenes or helping ensure we are set up for success, their dedication never goes unnoticed.

As a small token of appreciation for their time, efforts and unwavering support, we decided to surprise the team – just a simple gesture to brighten their day. Boxes of fresh cookies were hand delivered, bringing smiles, laughter, and a well-deserved moment of pause.

It wasn’t just about the treats – it was about recognizing a team that gives so much of themselves to help others succeed. A reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact.

At the 3rd annual COIS Charity Golf Tournament, I was fortunate enough to win the 50/50 draw – but in that moment, it felt more meaningful to donate it back to the charity. What was meant to be a bit of luck turned into a chance to give a little more to a cause that truly matters. I left feeling grateful – not just for the win, but for the opportunity to be part of something so generous and impactful.

Over the last few months, my family has fostered five surrendered pugs through Coastal Pug Rescue. Each dog arrived with a different story, but all shared one thing in common: they needed a safe place to land while they waited for their next chapter.

By opening our home, we’ve been able to provide stability, love, and daily care while these pugs received the medical attention and support needed to prepare them for adoption. Today, all five are healthy, ready for forever homes, and actively looking for the families who will love them for the rest of their lives.

Fostering has shown us that making a difference doesn’t always require a lifelong commitment—it can start with simply saying “yes” to helping when a dog is in need. Knowing that these pugs now have a second chance and a bright future ahead is what makes every moment worthwhile.

I volunteered with the DCMetro Social Committee to raise funds for Carpenter’s Shelter in Arlington, VA. We held a Bingo night partnering vendors and raised almost $1500. I had the pleasure of being the emcee for the event. It was such a great cause!

I grew up in foster care, and that experience helped shape me into the woman I am today. As a child, I often carried responsibilities far beyond my years. I faced many challenges growing up, but when I turned 18, I made a decision: I would choose my own path and create a life completely different from the one I had known.

I wanted to become the best mother, daughter, and sister I could be. I pursued a career in accounting and quickly realized that I loved the work. Over the years, I continued learning, growing, and excelling in every position I held. Eventually, I discovered my passion for the life safety and construction industry, where I found a career that truly inspires me.

Today, I am fortunate to build meaningful professional relationships with customers while making a difference through my work. One of my proudest achievements came when Sunray Construction Solutions held its Top 10 Women in Construction 2026 recognition program. With the support of my family, friends, coworkers, and customers, I was nominated and selected as one of the Top 10 Women in Construction in the United States, representing Century Fire Protection.

That recognition meant more to me than an award. It was proof that hard work, determination, and perseverance can overcome even the most difficult beginnings. More importantly, it showed my children that your circumstances do not define your future. No matter where you come from, you can achieve your goals if you are willing to work for them.

Century Fire Protection has given me the tools, opportunities, and support to grow both professionally and personally. Looking back, I am proud of how far I have come. From a little girl in foster care to a woman living her dream, my journey has taught me that anything is possible with resilience, dedication, and hope. I am grateful for where I came from, proud of where I am today, and excited for where I am going next.

One thing about Century Fire is that employees know how to celebrate. Every birthday, cubicles are transformed into mini party zones and every Christmas a forest of trees erupts throughout our offices, so you already know that a Century Fire Baby shower is an event to behold especially when both parents work in the office.

Through the generosity of coworkers, a sizable amount was raised to nearly clear out the expecting parents’ baby registry. Gifts were wrapped, basketed and presented under a balloon arch. The baby shower leaned into the “silly goose almost on the loose” theme with a fleet of geese cups, a handmade painting and loads of geese decor. As one employee who, despite it being her very first day, contributed to the gift and helped set up the room said, “This is the best work baby shower I’ve ever seen!”

This event was incredibly rewarding to help bring to life and I feel so fortunate to be able to put my party planning and painting abilities to a good use for a couple who are sure to make the best parents!

Yesterday, I had the honor of serving as a panelist at the IDEA: Beyond the Gift event in Jacksonville, FL. The panel brought together local corporate partners who collaborate with organizations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs).
The discussion centered on moving beyond financial contributions to meaningful, personal engagement. Demonstrating how organizations can build genuine relationships that create lasting impact. We explored what it truly means for a community to be inclusive and accessible and how shifting from transactional support to authentic partnership can positively transform both organizations and the individuals they serve.
A significant portion of the conversation focused on breaking down barriers faced by individuals with IDDs, particularly challenges related to transportation and societal perceptions. We discussed how these obstacles limit opportunities and emphasized the importance of creating pathways that allow individuals to fully participate and thrive. At the core of this effort is fostering dignity, confidence, and a true sense of belonging.
More than 100 community members participated in this two-hour session, engaging in thoughtful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving to help move this initiative forward.
Paul Davis proudly supports the Pine Castle Center for Adults with IDDs, and I was honored to share how our partnership has grown beyond financial support into a meaningful relationship rooted in friendship, respect, and a shared commitment to helping individuals thrive.

My elderly neighbor is a widower, and he has been facing some health challenges that are impacting his mobility and quality of life. His wife was a dear friend (like a second mother to me) and when she was dying, I promised I’d always take care of her husband. I often bring him home cooked meals and his favorite chicken salad along with other goodies from our local farmers’ market. My partner and I maintain his yard and garden, so he doesn’t have to pay for a lawn service. Bringing him meals and other treats gives me an opportunity to spend time with him and make sure he has everything he needs. I cherish the time I get to spend with him and love listening to his stories about his life and travels.

While on vacation during the Memorial Day holiday, Lilly (the dog) and I regularly walked the front of the hotel and replanted any of the wind-blown, fallen over American flags. I love our flag, and I am so proud to be an American. In honor of all who made the ultimate sacrifice, standing up the American flag is the least I could do out of respect for those who gave all.

The volunteer group that I work with often volunteers at other nonprofits to assist them with any of their projects or scheduled events on their calendar to help support the community. Last weekend, one of my peers within the volunteer group and I went to White Pony Express to help sort food. As they receive donations from multiple grocers and farmers market growers, volunteers are critical as we ensure that dairy, breads, vegetables and fruits, are sorted so they are ready to go when they are either delivered to families or when families visit the center. We had a productive afternoon and we were able to meet other volunteers passionate about helping the organization. We loaded over three pallets filled with food ready to go for the next morning. Amazing day! Can’t wait to go back!

My elderly neighbor became ill and was hospitalized, so I stepped in to care for his puppy.

Staff and board of directors for social purpose with Forgotten Soldiers Outreach that the “Mavericks” rolled out under VP Charity Gruwell. There are quite a few properties that took a collection during the entire month of May to send care packages to our troops. Membership not only donated items, but they also wrote letters to soldiers as well. Yesterday, FirstService Residential associates and Board members from a few properties packed over 30 boxes to ship to soldiers

I live in a small town that has recently begun experiencing significant growth. I found myself disagreeing with some of the zoning decisions being made and realized that if I wanted to have a voice in the process, I needed to become more engaged.

I now review agendas for zoning and commission meetings, attend meetings whenever possible, and communicate directly with town leaders to share my concerns and ideas. As a result of that involvement, I was invited to join the Mayor’s Think Tank, a group of 12 community members from diverse backgrounds who meet quarterly to discuss ways to improve our community and enhance residents’ quality of life.

My recent involvement in local government has been a real eye-opener. It has given me a much deeper appreciation for the difficult balancing act our local leaders face as they work to support growth and improve the community while keeping taxes affordable. Most importantly, I have come to realize that the decisions made at the local level often have a far greater impact on my daily life than anything happening in Washington.

I live in an apartment complex. Our neighbor had a wreath where House Finches had made a nest. The eggs had hatched. This morning when leaving for work the wreath had fallen. My husband and I jumped into action and got rubber gloves, a shoebox and used a piece of cardboard to scoop up the baby birds and put them into the shoebox with their nest. I’m happy to report that Momma Bird has come back to check on the Baby Birds! Anyone who knows me knows I love animals. Saving the baby birds mattered to me because their lives were fragile and they have no way to protect themselves. I couldn’t ignore that responsibility once I saw it. Helping them wasn’t just about rescuing animals—it was about honoring life, compassion, and the belief that even the smallest beings deserve care and a chance to survive.

192 Gallons. One Truckload. A Big Impact.

This week, we delivered 192 gallons of unused paint to Matthew 25: Ministries in Blue Ash, Ohio.

What makes this even more special is that this paint didn’t just come from our projects. Over the years, we’ve created a community paint donation drop-off center at our Dayton office, and it’s been amazing to see the number of homeowners, contractors, property managers, and businesses who stop by to donate leftover paint instead of throwing it away.

At CertaPro Painters of Indianapolis & Dayton we partner with Threefold to brainstorm as to how to we have intrinsic impact. We believe being a good community partner means more than providing great painting services. It means looking for opportunities to reduce waste, support sustainability, and help organizations like Matthew 25 Ministries put resources to good use.

Every gallon donated is one less gallon headed to a landfill and one more opportunity to make a positive impact.
