Benefitting Habitat for Humanity

On September 28, I was provided the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Ontario, which is a nonprofit organization that helps to build and provide safe and affordable homes to working, lower-income families in the community. The Habitat for Humanity team I was working with is expected to provide homes to dozens of families in the west end of Toronto, Ontario.

The interesting thing about my “build day” was that it was part of a Women’s Build event, where women came together to help construct homes over a 10-day span. We were also able to meet a recipient family. It was amazing to hear their story and how much they are going to benefit from the safe housing community that Habitat for Humanity is building for them.

As with other charities, the pandemic hit Habitat for Humanity hard, as they were unable to have volunteers get together to help with their builds over the past couple of years. It was really a great day and a great way to give back to such a fantastic organization!
