We are happy to see our Social Purpose activities picking up again! Here are several activities our teams organized and participated in to support Our Environment.
On June 18 we once again celebrated Daylight Hour. This year the emphasis was on participating remotely and using the time to participate in an activity that promoted health and wellness.
According the registrations we collected via our survey, 58 locations participated, of which 63% were remote, 20% were in-office and 17% were a combination. Century Fire Protection and Planned Companies led the pack with 18 and 13 locations participating, respectively.
The FirstService Residential Philly High-Rise team has teamed up to join Lights Out Philly, a national program with more than 32 participating cities. They are encouraging area residents to turn off lights during the bird migration seasons to help save birds, energy and money. The objective is to get as many people as possible to turn off exterior, common area and resident unit lights between midnight and 6:00 a.m. during spring migration, April 1 – May 31 and the fall migration, August 15-November 15.
Lisa Belfiglio from FirstService Residential was interviewed for this Inside Edition segment. Great work!
As part of its commitment to Our Environment, Planned Companies continued its tradition of beautifying public spaces by organizing another clean up event. Team members from the Northeast, mid-Atlantic and the South participated in this effort. Following the trash pickup, employees enjoyed a team lunch and had the opportunity to join together for some friendly competition.
FirstService Residential teamed up with Russett Community Association to organize a successful “Clean Up & Green Up” Earth Day event. The group received support from Anne Arundel County and numerous local companies. More than 125 volunteers came together to clean up trash in the community and surrounding areas. Partners included Clean Harbors, Maryland City Public Library, Anne Arundel County Office of the County Executive, BrightView Landscaping, Community Emergency Response Team and Robin Marshall Dance.
“We are thrilled with the impact our team had for Earth Day. At FirstService Residential, we do what’s right. We believe it is our responsibility to lend a hand – or more – when our friends and neighbors need assistance,” said Trent Harrison, CMCA®, AMS®, PCAM®, president, MidAtlantic, FirstService Residential. “Our associates live and work in this community and it’s a pleasure to partner with local organizations and give back whenever we can.”
